WILMINGTON, Del. — Literacy Delaware is pleased to announce Dan Stabb as its new Executive Director, effective November 1, 2026. Dan brings extensive experience in adult education, professional development, workforce development, instructional facilitation, and community engagement as the organization continues its longstanding commitment to empowering adult learners throughout Delaware.
Dan joins Literacy Delaware following eight years at Zip Code Wilmington, where he most recently served as Director of Admissions and Professional Development. During his tenure, he helped more than 500 adult learners pursue new career opportunities through technical education, career preparation, and professional development. His experience building meaningful relationships with learners, educational partners, and community stakeholders will be invaluable as he leads Literacy Delaware into its next chapter.
A dedicated community leader, Dan’s contributions have earned recognition at both the state and national levels. He received the 2026 Delaware Difference Makers Award, presented by Spur Impact, and was named one of OnConferences' Top 100 Learning & Development Leaders for 2026. He also serves on the Student Visionaries Leadership Committee for Blood Cancer United and is a board member of City Theater Company, a Delaware nonprofit performing arts organization.
In addition to his professional and community leadership, Dan brings more than 20 years of experience in improvisational theater, including nearly two decades of teaching and facilitating programs focused on communication, collaboration, confidence, and leadership. These experiences have shaped his belief in the power of creating supportive environments where individuals can discover their strengths, build confidence, and realize their potential.
Dan is excited to build upon Literacy Delaware’s more than 40 years of service to adult learners. Throughout his career, he has been driven by a commitment to helping adults develop new skills, gain confidence, and pursue educational and professional opportunities they may not have previously thought possible. He believes adult literacy is fundamental to personal independence, economic opportunity, and stronger families and communities. He also recognizes that the impact of literacy extends across generations, making it an investment not only in individuals but in the future of Delaware communities.
"I'm incredibly excited to join Literacy Delaware and build upon the important work this organization has been doing for more than 40 years. Throughout my career, I've seen firsthand how access to education and skill development can transform lives. Literacy is foundational to so many of the opportunities we sometimes take for granted, and I'm looking forward to working alongside our staff, tutors, learners, and community partners to help open more doors for Delawareans across the state."
As Executive Director, Dan looks forward to working collaboratively with Literacy Delaware's dedicated staff, volunteer tutors, learners, supporters, and community partners to expand opportunities and strengthen the organization's impact across the state.
"On behalf of the Board, we are thrilled to welcome Dan Stabb as Literacy Delaware's Executive Director. Dan's passion for helping adults gain skills, confidence, and opportunity aligns beautifully with our mission, and his experience in adult education and workforce development has already changed hundreds of lives. The Board is energized by what lies ahead, and we can't wait to partner with Dan, our staff, tutors, and learners to build on more than four decades of impact and open even more doors for Delawareans across the state.”
